Crowdfunding underway for Y-Xplore with Aviva Community Fund in Tayside

YMCA Tayside has launched Y-Xplore, a new programme designed to reach and inspire vulnerable young people in its community through outdoor education, life coaching and personal development.

The project has secured the backing of the Aviva Community Fund and is now seeking donations of any amount to help YMCA Tayside reach its target of £5,000 to enable it to buy equipment for the project.

Y-Xplore aims to focus on the benefits of being outdoors along with life coaching, providing young people with the opportunity to experience the great outdoors whilst developing important life skills and challenging their perceptions and beliefs around what they’re capable of.

Activities will aim to encourage young people outside of their comfort zone, which will include canoeing, stand-up paddleboarding, climbing, abseiling, hillwalking, canyoning and bushcraft.

YMCA Tayside is looking to raise money to purchase equipment that will allow it to deliver the activities directly and reduce its reliance on hiring and borrowing equipment. Owning its own equipment will result in project cost reductions and deliver the freedom to arrange outdoor trips at short notice and deliver Y-Xplore to a wider audience.

This funding will help it to purchase canoes, safety equipment, and a trailer.

Donate now by visiting the project page here. The crowdfunding initiative is open until 16 December 2020.
