Y Mentoring

Y Mentoring aims to deliver a community-based mentoring programme. This programme intervenes early to re-engage vulnerable young people, support mental health and prevent them from engaging in negative behaviours by promoting positive decision-making. The proposed programme continues the short term support offered through our LIAM and NVR programmes, to enable participants to embed their learning and develop their core skills such as self esteem, confidence and resilience.

If you are interested in being a mentor or have someone to refer or would like to self refer to be a mentee please email Amanda at amanda@renfrewymca.com

Mental Health and Wellbeing

We have a whole dedicated service to the well being of the full family, we run specific sessions sessions for parents such as fitness and wellness walks, staff trained in NVR and empowering communities. For young people we have staff trained in let’s introduce anxiety management and motivational interviewing.

LIAM is an NHS early intervention approach based upon cognitive behavioural therapy. This is a 9 week program which supports young people to work through the anxieties they are having whilst also learning coping mechanisms to be able to face challenging circumstances which before would not be easily faced due to their anxieties

NVR is an approach that has been developed to address the violent and self-destructive behaviours of children and young people. NVR groups are led by skilled practitioners who have psychological training and experience within the area of child to adult violence. NVR helps adults deal with their child’s violent behaviours and provides them with a toolbox to work through with the end goal of the home becoming a happy and safe environment.
