Housing

YMCA Glenrothes provides temporary supported accommodation for up to 60 people each night in hostels and shared flats.

YMCA Glenrothes manages a dedicated female hostel for residents aged 16-50.

The YMCA also supports 26 male residents in the same age range in a separate hostel.

In 2017, YMCA Glenrothes secured funding from the Big Lottery Fund to support the delivery of the Y Academy. The Y Academy helps homeless young people develop resilience and skills to maintain their future tenancies.

One of the biggest challenges for young people moving from supported accommodation to independent living is the process of setting up their own tenancy. For example, many find it difficult to attend housing appointments, deal with energy suppliers, manage money effectively, and register with a local GP as well as source their own furniture, carpets, white goods and bedding.

For that reason, we have a dedicated caseworker who has been appointed to support young people who are moving on from supported accommodation. Read more about the Follow On Service.
