Peter Lorimer

Sadly it has been reported that Peter Lorimer has passed away.
Peter, 74, was brought up in Broughty Ferry.
He was a great talent even at an early age.
He came to Broughty Ferry YMCA and was involved with Broughty United before signing for Leeds United when only 15.
He made his Leeds debut when still 15 and went on to have a terrific football career at Leeds and with Scotland.
Peter represented Scotland in the 1974 World Cup scoring against Zaire.
He won numerous trophies with Leeds and will always be remembered for his shooting power.

Peter never forgot his roots and came home to the Ferry when he could.
In 2016 when the YMCA were celebrating their 150th Anniversary, as part of the celebrations there was a Sportsmans Dinner.
Peter was asked to be a Guest Speaker which he gratefully accepted. Although living South of the Border, Peter did not wish to receive any financial reward saying he was just happy to be back where he started.
A Gentleman indeed!!!!
